Fuel Pumps Module Assembly

Electronic fuel injection systems operate at very high fuel pressures. The electric fuel pump must be able to consistently supply fuel at pressure as high as 75 psi or more. The typical pump has an impeller attached to the end of the motor shaft that draws in fuel from one end and pushes it out at the other end of the pump. It has an internal pressure relief valve that dumps excess pressure right back into the tank. The fuel gauge sending unit consists of a float connected to a variable resistor. As the fuel is used and the level falls in the tank, the float drops, which in turn reduces the current sent to the gauge from the variable resistor, causing the fuel gauge needle to also fall. A properly functioning fuel pump module is critical to the performance of an electronically fuel injected vehicle.
